I just bought an older (EZ) one touch silver. It is pretty wobbly on the legs. Is there anything that people are doing to tighten this up?

Wrap the top of the legs with aluminum foil and shove them back in the bowl.

Someone also mentioned sticking a broom stick into the legs to expand them a little bit or something of that nature.

Rob, you're close...
I got this info a few years ago from another BBQ website and it works great!

quote:

Turn the kettle upside down and remove the legs. Cut some 3, 4" inch pieces from an old broomstick handle. The normal broomhandles should fit snuggly and perfectly into each leg. Push the wood piece into the leg till it's flush with it. Do this to all the legs. Put the legs back into the slots. Use a grinder to grind off a tiny area of the porcelain behind each leg slot. If you look behind each leg slot, you will see a seam, that's where I used the grinder, right on the seam. The reason for removing a small area of precelain is because the self tapping metal screws have a hard time getting through the porcelain. At least the ones I use did. Drive a self tapping screw through the leg slot. It will go through the leg and the wooden dowel inside the leg. Once you do this to all three legs, hit the screw with some paint to keep rust away. From there on, the kettle will no longer wobble from side to side, and the legs won't come loose when you try to move the kettle around. Especially when you have hot coals and meat in it.

Our own Clark from Wyocena, Wisconsin also has done this to his Kettles...
