Wireless Door Bell.

From early 2017 until today, I had a wireless doorbell with 55 chimes. The only chime I kept it on was "The Ants Go Marching In".

It stopped working today.

It also used a hard to find A23 battery, which seemed to last less than a year.

Is there any other replacement out there? Something quality, that doesn't take a hard to find battery (that I have to go to the drugstore or hardware store for).

Or some other low cost alternative, to achieve what I want?

I kind of wish I had made a recording of the chime. Since it doesn't have vocals. But I didn't know it was going to die.

Get yourself a small skittish dog, when someone knocks you will know if someone is there, even when you are in the bathroom!

Are there any two way audio doorbells? Those will probably let me put that chime on there.

I don't need a video one, I already have a camera security system.

I saw an Arlo audio doorbell, but it requires a base station, running the cost to over $100.

I also saw some friction powered doorbells, but no one has guaranteed that one of the chimes is "ants go marching". The friction powered one seems like it could be the most hassle free solution. No stupid battery that needs replacing in less than a year.

So after doing research on mp3 doorbells, here are the options I found. These will let me choose my own chime.

For other wireless doorbells with pre-selected chimes, it's too hard to guarantee if the "ants go marching" chime will be on the preselected list.

1). Honeywell wireless mp3 doorbell.

The biggest complaint seems to be that you have to push the button for a long time before it works. I guess I will see how valid I think those complaints are.

Other than that, looks decent.

2). Broan-Nutone wireless mp3 doorbell:

There are too many complaints that it ghost rings. Pass.

People using their remote car keys will set it off.

3). YourBell MP3 Chime:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018HJJJIO/?tag=tvwb-20

Overall looks good, but it's hard wired. Pass. I want wireless.

4). Arlo

It needs an Arlo Audio Doorbell; Arlo Base Station; and an Arlo Chime. 3 devices. Running the cost to about $170. Pass.

5). Ring

Ring doesn't have any audio only doorbells, so the Ring Chime won't work for me. I don't need a video doorbell, since I already have a camera security system.

6) I did see some self powered wireless doorbells. Unfortunately I can't choose my own chime.

7) Swann MP3 DJ Doorbell:

Discontinued.

I installed a Honeywell Home RDWL917AX2000 today.

It seems to work how I wanted to. I was able to upload my own mp3 chime (a recording of the "Ants go marching" from the old doorbell).

However, I can't figure out how to remove the push button, after it's mounted, without popping the whole thing off. It appears there's a tab which will let it slide off, but everytime I tried, the whole push button comes off.

After spending more than an hour, I'm just going to leave it as is.

When I have to change the battery, worse case that it pops off, I'll just apply mounting tape again.

This might be one of the lesser annoying things to do.

Let's see how long the button type battery lasts in this push button. Hopefully longer than the A23 battery from the old doorbell push button.

Also, I will get a low battery indicator, which is better than the old doorbell system, which gave no indicator. It would just stop working without warning.

None of the others would allow for my own mp3 chime. I was wrong in the above post, from November 16th.
