Winter, Bring it On

Just finished enclosing my BBQ shack. It's open enough to allow BBQ smoke to not build up, but yet should keep out winter wind. Use the portable firepit to add warmth.

I had posted an incomplete shack picture a few months back. Recently added an additional 7 feet to cover my work counter.

Here's some pics:

The last picture is off the back end where I have fire starter and a counter to hold lids, etc.

Enjoy the winter.

You're my hero. Man, a bbq shack, what a great deal. If I'm gonna keep up with the Jones' now, I'm gonna have to build an out building. All I wanted a year ago was something to block the wind. Man this hobby is getting expensive (but worth it).

Cool BBQ Shack.

Great idea with the patio stones, esp with the one for the Starter Chimney.

Reminds me of my dream BBQ Shack

A large covered cement slab, screened in, dual sided fire place in the middle, one end of the of the shack would be for cooking with running water, the other end for entertaining and serving. A nice comfy regular bed near the kitchen area for sleeping during cooks and to for just sleep outside. A dream though. I think I will utilize several of the ideas from the posts people have made about their BBQ areas.

Might be a cool to have a separate area for posting these messages. There have been many messages lately for BBQ shacks, covers, etc.

Thanks for sharing your info and pics Dan

There is a beer can on the counter in the picture. No real need for a cooler - the house is only 50' away. For heat I use the portable fire pit pictured in the front.

This will be definitely getting some use this winter as a buddy and I are getting into an ice fishing guide service where we provide BBQ on the ice.

Currently working on a middle extension for the 22 1/2" Weber that will serve as an additional 1/2 grill surface as well as a rotiserrie. I'll post pictures of that when finished under the grill section. This will actually be used out on the ice.

Dan,

That is really cool. What a place to hang out! I am going to start on a whole hog cooking pit here shortly, and we were just talking today about building some sort of shelter to go over it. We have electricity and running water nearby and plan on having both piped in to our shelter. If you don't mind I may steal some of your ideas. Thanks in advance.

That is too cool. We are getting for winter here in Minnesota and I thought we were smart, building a small enclosure for the WSM with a vented roof. Now I need to rethink the plan and see if we can go to a bigger scale!

Dan,
I sued to live in Wisconsin and you folks take winter VERY seriously. Nice set up! For me any change in the weather just means to change the recipe! I wish you many good meals!
