Wicked Good Charcoal - Group Order - Columbus, Ohio

Many of you may remember that a few years ago I organized, with the help of a few other board members, a large purchase of Kamado charcoal. Well, I have rededicated myself to barbecue and I would like to try to organize another large order, this time for Wicked Good Lump Charcoal. For those of you that are not familiar, check out the following review:

Naked Whiz - Wicked Good Review

It is highly ranked by readers for its large pieces, low ash and good burn time.

Here are the details:

Wicked Good Weekend Warrior Lump Charcoal
22lb bags
60 bags per pallet
$15.50 per bag delivered to me

Based on the numbers it only makes sense if we can do multiples of 60 bag pallets, i.e, 1-3 pallets. If we have some huge orders then we may get a discount if we go to the 4th pallet. Here is how this will work:

1) Please post if you are interested and how many bags you would be interested in purchasing.
2) If we get enought orders to complete a pallet or two I will email those that are interested to confirm their orders.
3) I will accept payment via check or paypal (if using credit card on paypal I would ask that you include the 3% fee that I am charged).
4) I will place the order and send out the information about when it will come in.
5) When the order comes in I will pick it up in Columbus, Ohio. You can arrange to pick it up from me at my office downtown or at my home on the north side (Polaris area).

Just a few notes. As was true with the last order of Kamado, I am not doing this for profit. I am charging, per bag, the same price that Wicked Good is charging me, including shipping. I am going to order 5-10 bags (depending on what makes a pallet) and I will pay for them just the same. I have confirmed with Chris Allingham that I am trying to arrange this purchase and I have received his approval.

If you have any questions, please contact me.

Thanks for your interest.

P.S. If anyone has access to large quantities of smoke wood that they would be willing to volunteer to donate to other board members I can facilitate that at the same time as the charcoal purchase.

Scott, you can count me in for 5 bags, and could go a couple more if you need to fill out a pallet. Also, I'm about 50 miles north of you and if it would help, I could pick up bags for others, to cut down on their travel time. I'm am located between 2 major highways [US 62 & ST.RT.3]. Thank you for the offer!

Perfect timing! Thanks very much for taking the initiative on this. Please count me in for 5 bags. I also live near Polaris and work downtown, so figuring out a way to make the transfer should be straightforward.

What is your time frame? I will be down at the end of the month, would love to pick up a couple bags or three.

Scott,
I still wish I would have bought about 12 more boxes of the kamado. I have considered buying again about a year ago. I couldn't get anyone to answer the phone and their forums were riddled with complaints of the coal and delivery was as bad or worse as when you made the buy. So I finally gave up on that.

I was wondering if you knew there is a place in Springfield about 30 minutes west of you that sells Wicked. I called them last year. I can't remember what the price was though. I am thinking it was $16. I never went to pick up any. I found Humphries in Dayton and haven't looked back. I would say as good as Wicked if not better.

I get the Hump for $13 a 20# bag. I haven't bought any since last summer so I don't know if the price is the same. Anyhow if you ever want to try some Hump Lump let me know. I will pick it up and meet you somewhere between Dayton and Columbus.

I tried to call the place in Springfield but could not get an answer (phones were disconnected), usually not a good sign.

At this rate I will see what responses we have by the end of the month and go from there.

Thanks,
SCott
