Which one to buy ?

So which one do I buy. I went to stop and shop and this is really my only option from where I live.

Most of the time I go to BJ's in West Hartford. Shop rite carries them but not always. Stop & shop will carry them but not always. Whole foods and Highland park carry boneless butts but are a bit pricey, bought some from Hall's market in West Hartford but again not always in stock. BJ'sw ALWAYS has butts.

The butts at BJ's are usually around 1.89 a lb. Shop rite and Stop & shop were a bit more but not much, Whole foods was nuts, like 5 bucks a pound, not sure how much better it can be. The whole idea behind BBQ was taking lesser cuts of meat and making them good.

Sam's Club has bone-in pork butts for $1.88/lb. I see in the picture they have a "half shoulder" that is perhaps a pork butt? At $1.49/lb that seems like a pretty good deal.

I like the bone in butts at Sam's or sometimes at Walmart. Costco de-bones their butts and when open the package it sort of flaps open into a bunch of chunks and you have to tie it up before smoking it.

Wow. If that's all you have to choose from, your options suck. Tell us where you live and I'm sure someone will have better options. As was pointed out - you don't have a Sam's Club within a reasonable drive? If you live near a large city, time for a road trip. There's got to be a bone-in, non-enhanced butt around somewhere.

Try the stores Eric mentions but also try the stores that cater to the Latino population. Most pork products are available there.
