When adding charcoal on a long smoke?


 
Not on a 22.

Why is that? I just got back on the forum and noticed you're response. If the 22.5" WSM has a larger and taller coal ring why wouldn't a full ring work as well as my 18"5" WSM?
Or am I missing something here?:confused:

I lift the middle section off to ensure my meat stays clean then I add either additional fuel or lit depending on the conditions and length of time remaining. I have no problems doing this and I know I'll have meat free of acrid ash. Replace the middle section and your back in business. Usually I'll just use the door to check the coals or add smoke wood.
