I finally did a batch of KFC drumsticks tonight! Apologies, no pictures, all too hungry! They were GREAT! Thank you Rich Dahl for that design! It was very cold and getting dark by the time I got them on but, I’m all in with that recipe.
It turned out very nicely indeed.
I wish I had had the chance to thank him years ago about this!
It was a grand “Pre Christmas” dinner with friends!

What was you method? Vortex in the center, chicken pieces outside the Vortex? That's my go to, but I have to be careful not to be too hot, or the breading burns. It's definitely a crowd pleaser. Godspeed Rich Dahl
Exactly, I used the smaller Vortex on the the 22” kettle, which kept the heat just a little less intense but, plenty hot enough! Results were tasty, sorry about the lack of photographic evidence but, like I said, we were hungry and at 7:00 it was dark!
I will try a couple of tweaks next time, much longer buttermilk bath adding some pickle juice and sriracha. The technique is just so simple!
