weird icing condition

I don't use my little Q220 very often so when/if I do I typically run it on the small 1# cylinders. I've noticed though that my control valve ices up literally choking off the gas flow. Then if I remove the bottle and turn the control knob, reinstall the bottle it typically runs fine. ANyone else seen this? It's beginning to get on my nerves

Sure. Typically happens when you turn on the propane bottle and your Q is already on. And it did effect performance of the Q. I never saw it happen when I made sure the Q was turned off before turning on the bottle. Since you're running the lil greenies, you just have make sure the Q is off before attaching them. I run the big bottle and if I forget to make sure the Q is off, and I've turned on the bottle, I leave the Q on and turn off the bottle and allow enough time for the line to clear out the propane before turning off the Q. Once I'm sure it's cleared out, I turn off the Q, turn on the bottle and then fire up the Q.

not the case here. I always turn off the grill valve. So not the issue in my case. It is kinda making me a little crazy so I might just look into buying a new valve assembly

Had that happen on my Q 100 a few times with the small bottle mostly if not always in the winter or temps 35 or less. But never did it again when I went with the adaptor hose and big tank.

Well winter here (though not awful cold) still under 40, and we're expecting teens for the highs next few days. I have an adapter hose for the big tank but I just like the ease of storing and use with the little bottles

Agree with that as there really is no easy or safe way to attach the big tank to the cart for portability. Mine pretty much was stationary under the patio for my winter burger
/ steak / brat / chop cooker so the big tank worked well.

I have a 5# tank I use on my Q220 and its not "too clunky" because of its smaller footprint, and it seems to last forever.
