Weber Summit 425

Paul Warner

TVWBB Pro
As my latest project comes to fruition I am now looking ahead to the next one, a Summit 425. I am not over familiar with the Summits
so if anyone has a family tree of them that would be grate! I think my one is a 941001 but not sure, i am going to try and establish in the morning
as its dismantled over at my storage facility.

I am looking at @Jon Tofte SS panels to address the rusted front orifices as well as getting the front panel made from SS entirely. most of the other parts are intact apart from this https://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/search/part/552819/214485/ price is very rich so has anyone come up with an alternative set up
that would be easier to get made? Also, the original design is garbage imo.

If you mean those flavorizer clip bars, I agree that this design was pretty poor and not destined to last. One of my individual clips is broken. I had no idea you could even buy that bar anymore. For that price (the reward for that company keeping them in their warehouse for two decades!), I think I will pass. Even with this and the porcelain firebox front and back, I still feel these are wonderful grills, probably the best with a Weber name on it.

I have a new supply to sell of front (shown below) and plain rear 304 thick stainless reinforcements to attach to the existing firebox front and back.

I think you will find it extremely expensive to have a complete stainless firebox front made, and even the back won’t be cheap. It will be informative to see if you can get any quotes. I settled on the reinforcement idea as a practical but solid way to make these Summits useable for years to come.

Paul, If I can help, please let me know.

Thanks Jon, i need to clean up the three firebox components to proper evaluate, i also have a FT 400 flat top which is mildly better but may need a similar fix. New front SS panels would be utopia but utopia is normally very pricey!!

If the knobs and sideburner are the same as a 2nd gen, I have some of them and would be happy to give them to you.
Thanks Cody, I am somewhat unfamiliar with the different models tbh. I need to go over what I have and put together a shopping list, i know i need to replace a rusted round tube from the frame and i would like to source a couple of new castors which i think are 3 inch and likely hard to track down. I have the aluminum parts already blasted and new burners, may need new flav bars but i think i can get these ok.

I do not believe that the side burners are interchangeable. The knobs are not the same, but they should still work. The move from the 1st generation Summit to the 2nd was a big one - and not in the right direction!
