Weber Silver B with propane tank that's 3/4 full, saving you $65 dollars.$320

At my local Kwik Trip they sell 20 pound propane tanks.
A full 20 pounder without a tank to exchange is $65.00
So, you buy a grill with no tank and then go the Kwik Trip and get a full one, you will pay them $65.00
Buy my grill with a tank with propane in it, use up all the propane, then go to Kwik Trip and exchange the empty tank for a full 20 pounder, it will cost you $25.00
So, buy my grill with a tank, saves you 65 bucks, plain and simple.1000008151.jpg

No, it saves you $40 plus whatever is left in the tank you gave them. It's not really that great of a selling point unless the grill itself is substandard.

If you did not have a tank and went to Kwik Trip, it would cost you 65 bucks.
My tank is basically full.
And the grill is probably as good as they come.

Hey, off the tank subject for just a sec. Re, Kwik Trip stations. Have either of you noticed if they've installed high speed DC Fast Chargers for us "juiced" drivers? (asking for a friend) :D

My only concern as a seller would be a buyer asking to purchase without the tank for $65 discount. Would be hard to argue with that since a $65 value has been put on it. I'm not trying to criticize at all. Excellent Grill and it should sell no problem. Just my two cents from another buyer/seller perspective. It can definitely sometimes boost the sale by mentioning throwing in a tank of propane and definitely doesn't hurt. A lot of times when I pick up grills I find out after I get there that they are throwing in free tank of propane. If they would have mentioned it I may have paid more or responded quicker.

A grill I bought, the person was trying to sell me their tank for 25 dollars. I didn't want it. As I was communicating with them they kept lowering the price. I didnt want it / need it. When I got there to pick up the grill, they told me to take the tank for free. Why? Because they couldn't remove it ...

That's hilarious!

Following the tank theme. I visited Walmart in Massachusetts for an exchange the other night. Blue Rhino’s were $19.92 for exchange and $54.95 no exchange. 15lbs of Propane in a 20lb tank. Tax included.

While I waited at Walmart I picked out my tank in the cage as I am more interested in the tank than the propane. I saw a newer tank from the year 2020 stamped on the collar so that one will stay in my fleet to be refilled potentially until 2032. I prefer newer to the recertification ones to avoid any refill hassles.

I took a picture of the exchange return policy for acceptable empties. I’m no Perry Mason but it looks pretty liberal to me.

Where do you refill for 15 bucks? The rental place by me is 22 bucks. Used to be 20 but they just raised it

Around me, best refill price is at Tractor Supply. They only charge for the propane actually put into the tank, not a flat rate. Like how a gas station works. So the price varies a little depending on how much propane you still have in the tank. But it usually works out to about $15. Which I assume is for a fuller filled tank.

Best part is that It relieves my cheapo tendency to try to get the tank absolutely empty before refilling. Now I just swap and refill the tank when it gets kinda low and is convenient to do.

That’s pretty much how I swap out too, when one is getting close, I’ll put a fresh one on and when I have two empties, I take them over and fill. I’m never out!

Mark -- your grills are awesome and a super great value. If you were around here, I'd buy one of your grills for each of my kids and send my friends to you to.

But c'mon. A grill needs a tank to operate. Just like it needs a fire box, grates, knobs, flav bars and a lid. Selling a propane grill without a tank is like selling a car without tires.

So if I was bidding on one of your grills, I would deduct $65 bucks from what I was otherwise going to offer. Actually, I would deduct more. Because the questionable claim about "saving" me money would nick me off a bit.

I would be fine with a price quote with/without the tank. And if your are going to market the tank option, maybe it should be a full tank? Trying to sell me a partly full tank as some kind of bonus also seems like a stretch.

Something to think about FWTW. Seems like I'm not the only one who had a similar reaction. And the folks on here would seem to be classic grill enthusiasts who are in your target demo.

Good to know. I just called my local one. 3 dollars a gallon so if it was stone cold empty it would be around 15 bucks. Problem is, they said their tank isn't working right now ...
