Weber Searwood Grates

I am almost certain from seeing one that they are nickel-chrome plated. The bottom grates are the same as a Spirit 300 and earlier “classic” Genesis. Plenty of quality replacement options. Top grate might be trickier, but I am sure some places will offer a better substitute like they did for the SmokeFire.

I think the chrome plating holds up fine on a pellet grill compared to a charcoal grill .
I'm on year 3 with them on my EX6.

I still think it was a chintzy "cheap out" on their part. Yeah the lower temps of pellet grill tend to be more forgiving. But, given Weber's price points I think they coulda done better. Just my $.02

With the "Crafted" system, you can get the SS grates and/or also a section with a porcelain coated CI searing grate. I think there's also full sized porcelain coated CI grates that fit the Searwood/Spirit.

I've added the Spirit Stainless Steel Grates to my Smokefire, main reason i can stick them in the Dishwasher, look brand spanking new after 1 year of use still and no need to use a wire brush on them because of that and the pitfalls of those brushes.

The original grates were proving very difficult to keep clean, but performance wise no difference to the stainless steel one.
