Weber Genesis 1000 - Do I need a new manifold?

I have a beautiful green Webber genesis 1000 and she’s built like a tank. I’ve replaced everything except for the manifold (I don’t know which model as I can’t read it off the base) and I’m hoping somebody will be able to provide some mentorship on this. I don’t wanna lose her! 😊

It starts up like a dream, but I can’t get the flame high enough to actually grill. I can keep my hands above the grates but I can’t figure out why the gas won’t get big enough. Tubes are clean and I replaced the regulator hose that goes to the propane tanks. Please help! 🙏🏼🙌🏼

Is this something that has just occurred? Have you tried simply another tank?
I received the grill from a friend a couple years ago, took everything a part to clean and repaint the base. I just tried a new tank this morning and took off the regulator valve and re-tightened it too! The only thing I had done is try blowing out the inside of where the regulator hose hook up with my air compressor. Oh that I’m guessing I need a new manifold?

Most likely it is not the manifold. It is more likely the regulator/hose or the fact that you have tripped the safety valve. When opening the tank, you need to open it very slowly at first and then you can faster after it is open about 1/4 turn or so.

You need to follow the reset instructions.

To remedy this situation.
1: Turn all burners off.
2: Turn propane tank off
3: disconnect hose from tank and wait a minute
4: reconnect the hose to the tank
5: Turn on the propane tank SLOWLY
6: Turn on the burner
7: push the ignition button.

There is also a chance that you actually have a leak in the gas system causing the safety feature to activate. Make sure you are not smelling raw gas when the tank is open.

And if you do want to try a manifold replacement. I suggest finding a donor grill for free/cheap and grabbing that manifold.

Manifolds are simple no failure devices. Most important question here too is: Did the grill work ok BEFORE you did all this stuff? If so then what's wrong is something you caused. So you now need to go back through the steps taken. Also look up the thread our host and moderator was kind enough to put together thanks to me finding a similar issue and being talked through it by Weber Support many years ago. He documents how to disassemble and properly clean/lube the valves and check the insides of the orifices for deposits which can cause irregular or low burn

It's possible that you may have partially plugged up the valves by blowing debris into them. Taking the vaLves apart and cleaning them may clear up the problem. Should you decide to buy a new one, this is what you need:Screenshot_20250503-165136.png
