Weber Gas Firepit question

How is the weatherproofing on them? Last night wife and I were having after dinner drinks on the deck, and watching the White Sox with the fireplace running. Beautiful evening. But, we went in late, I shut it down and placed the closure panels on it. But, it was still ripping hot. No way to put the cover on it. Woke up to rain. If the sides are all closed up think it will bother it?

Larry, I think they are designed to deal with being left uncovered. Water if it does get inside will drain well. In fact, I think a lot of them get left out all year with no covers at all, which I don't recommend.

This is my hope. Maybe if it doesn't rain tonight and if I get to feeling better (got some kinda stomach bug just punchin my lights out) I'm gonna light it up again tonight and that should drive off moisture

Larry,
There have been many a nights where we would shut the Firepit down without putting on the side covers or the Vinyl Cover and we woke up to rain for several days. Next use it would always fire up first or second push of the ignitor so no worries, they are pretty much bulletproof to the elements.
