Weber BBQ Gourmet

My better half got me the Weber BBQ Gourmet grill and griddle for V Day. I got a chance to do some burgers on it and it seems to work pretty well. The one issue that I had was how hot the cast iron griddle got. I was trying to grill some onions in in the griddle with canola oil prior to cooking the burgers there and they kept getting scorched. The burgers did end up with a nice crust on the outside due to their exposure to the griddle. The base of the griddle sits maybe 1 to 2 inches below the surface of the grill. Next time I will try to let the griddle get heated indirectly. The grill part of the BBQ Gourmet seems to be a bit heavier gage metal than the regular hinged grate. I don't have pictures as I was busy trying to keep from having over toasted onions.

I had the same problem. It's compounded by the fact that most of the time the grill lid is open.

I've found the key is to use less charcoal.

I miss posting here. It's just been a hectic several months. That, and we had a rough winter. I'll get back in the swing of things in the next month or so. I have ribs on as we speak...might snap off a couple finished pics.

Heh. I love living so close to Amazon's distribution point. Showed up on the door step this morning Think I'm going to give fajitas a whirl for my first use.
