Weber Aftermarket Parts

I’m in the middle of rehabing my second Genesis - first was an A and this one is a B. I’ve been looking at aftermarket parts, specifically stainless steel grates and flavorizer bars and the burner tube kits. Prices seem to be all over the board. Is there one source you guys trust more than others? Are the S.S. parts that are drastically cheaper than the Weber parts decent or do they breakdown much faster?

Thanks,

Brian

The cheaper parts are generally junk. RCairplaneBuyer on Ebay is top notch for grates and flavorizer bars. they are buy-it-for-life. I thought long and hard before I pulled the trigger and I wish I had done it much sooner. IF you are rehabbing to keep, I'd splurge.

I personally buy the Weber burner tubes when I need them. The 3rd party options are not that much cheaper to risk a cheap wield failing on a gas appliance IMO.

For my Silver A I used all Weber parts but I too am debating on using Aftermarket parts on my "Genny" 1000. From speaking with members on this forum I am unaware of any issues with Aftermarket parts.

If you want the best, you won't beat RCPlanebuyer for 9mm SS grates and 16 gauge flavorizer bars. But you will pay for them to the tune of about $200. But if you are looking for something lower priced, I have no problem with a lot of the after market parts. A good set of 7mm stainless grates will last you longer than the grill will last. And there are several offering for 16 gauge 304 stainless flavorizer bars (which is what RCP offers) for very reasonable prices including shipping. I have a $13 set of burners on my personal Genesis 1000 for 4 years now and they are still going strong. But I also have a set of RCP grates and flavorizer bars.
So, if you want the best, get the RCP grates and flavorizer bars and grates and weber burners. Cost over $250.

If you want a step down but still very good parts, you can get all three aftermarket for about $100.
For grates, these SS 7mm will cost you about $30 shipped with the 10% off coupon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B083QPHF5N/?tag=tvwb-20
For flavorizer bars, these 16 gauge set will cost you under $25 shipped: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SR9KHKR/?tag=tvwb-20
For burners, you can get these for under $10 shipped: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RLXLWYR/?tag=tvwb-20

That would put all new SS parts in your grill for about $65 shipped to your door step.

I really have to agree with Bruce, especially if you are on a tighter budget or if you have any thoughts of rehabbing and selling. Like he said, if the total price is OK and in your budget, you can't do better than Dave Santana/"rcplanebuyer." But a person outfitting their grill as Bruce provided in the alternative is not using "junk" and will get very, very good results.

I do agree that some of the really cheap grates and flavorizer bars out there (20 gauge or very thin widely spaced rods) are not even worthy of using on a "flip" grill, but not all after market parts are that way. In fact, Qlimetal flavorizers seem to me to be just about as good as Dave's, and I have bought both.

Brian,
I did not know the Big Green Egg was a Weber Grill? How do you like that one? If I may ask off topic.
It was the only option for my signature line. I actually have a Kamado Joe, just wasn't a choice - the Egg was the closest I could come. I love my Kamado. Yesterday, I smoked a pork shoulder on less than one load of charcoal for 10+ hours. Made some killer pulled pork. I haven't had a gas grill in years. I happened across the Genesis Silver A and decided to give it to my college aged son. But when I finished it and used it to grill some week night meals - I just had to get one for myself. Found the Genesis Silver B. I love cooking over lump, but using the Genesis is fun in it's own way. In fact, when I finish the B, I'm going to look for a more retro '90's model to rehab and take up to my parents cottage in Northern Michigan. It'll fit right in.

Thanks for the input Bruce.
