Web interface works on laptop, but not Android phone

Hi,
I'm having an odd issue with my HM 4.3 using pi zero w.
I've got the latest snapshot installed and an using the default (HeaterMeter AP) WiFi setup.
It all seems to boot fine, and assigns itself the ip http://198.168.201.1

But, for some reason when I load that on chrome on my phone (while connected to HeaterMeter WiFi) nothing loads and it times out. On my laptop it loads no issues. Any ideas why?

Also trying to access http://OpenWrt.local/ fails on both, and it's never listed on http://heatermeter.com/devices/ (is it supposed to be?)

Any help appreciated!
 
I always access over internet, because you will want this functionality anyway.

Assign your heatermeter a permanent address in your router
Open a port to it
Bookmark the external address : port

Now no matter where you are you just click that bookmark and you're connected to your heater meter.
in your own home you may use a VPN to access your router from the external address
On your phone you can just use cell also to do that.

It dont switch well between ways of connecting to it.

It won't ever list itself on http://heatermeter.com/devices/ if you're running it in AP mode (a 'heatermeter' wifi network). It has to have Internet access to register on the list, and in AP mode it doesn't have internet access.

When in AP mode, Android is often super-helpful in that it sees that the network you're on has no Internet access so it just doesn't use it and instead uses the phone's 4G data connection, which doesn't work because they're not on the same network. You can try disabling the phone's data connection before connecting to the HeaterMeter wifi network and it should work then.

The much easier solution is to set the HeaterMeter up in client mode so it joins your existing wifi network. Then the /devices/ registration will work, Android won't disconnect you because the network has Internet access, and you don't have to switch networks to check on your BBQ since you and the HeaterMeter on on the same network.
