Water "condensation" in WSM 22.5

I picked up my new WSM 22 Sunday and we got another 3 inches of rain last night (on top of 5 inches the other day) in New England 2 inches causes problems.

Anyhow I took the cover off the WSM and the outside was covered with condensation and there was about a quart in the bottom of the bowl. I dried it out and then tried to put a large contractors trashbag over it, but it is too big to fit the trashbag over it. I have heard about turning the middle upside down, but that seems to be a bit of a pain.

Has anyone tried silicon spay on the seams on the cover or what other steps have people taken?

I would use a product made for sealing the seams of tents. I doubt that silicone spray would be effective on the seams, although I haven't tried it.

I have some that is 10 years old, but I think I will run down to Bass Pro as it is only 3 minutes away and get some new stuff.

In the meantime I got a Brinkman smoker cover that is a heavy vinyl, don't know how it will hold up but fits fine with a bungi cord type bottom, I then I put the Weber cover over that - need the WEBER label to show!

Those covers are not waterproof for sure. I bought the winter cover for mine and it works well. They're made by CB and designed to keeps temps in for cold weather. They also keep the weather out. Not pretty mind you but it does the trick. Keep your bottom vents open Jeff so the smoker can get some air flow otherwise you can get mould inside if it sits too long. That's after you get it all gunked up.:)

I will be away for a couple of days so will get back at you but like everything else I touch, I made some mods to it for my use. :o Apparently the design was intended to be used with an ATC. The info in the threads will pretty much answer your questions I think, if not let me know.

We had 1 inch of rain last night and 2 inches in a thunderstorm today, after it was all over I pulled my cover to see if the fabric spray kept the water out, not a drop got through. Looks like I am good to go
