Walmart Charcoal $8.98/36 pounds

I have still yet to see the charcoal at our stores. It must sell quick. I did pick up a 6 bags of kcomp during the Costco sail so I will probably wait until the Memorial Day sales. That or the HD sale this weekend.

No, you have plenty of company. KBB is just so readily available and consistent that it remains very popular. Not much else out there at 25 cents/lb.

OGlenn ,your right about being readily available and consistent, but i too use lump and stocked up on it too when walmart had the 17.6lb bags for $8.ea

Okay,I just see tons of KBB being used on this site. KBB doesn't work for me and I haven't used it in many years. I thought I might be missing something. I'm always willing to try new tricks.

I'm with you Jay as I prefer lump, but KBB is fine too. Over the past week I've seen Cowboy lump on clearance in a couple of Lowes for a bit less per pound than the RO lump. One had the 8.8lb bags for $3.19, the other for $3.98. Obviously YMMV.

That's a good price on the 8.8 lb bags of cowboy, I would have cleaned them out if I would have saw that

I used to use lump but was getting unhappy with too many small bits that fall right through the charcoal grate. I like Kingsford comp because it burns like lump with nice consistent briquet size. Walmart online has free ship to store if you order it.

Thanks for the tip,I never see it by me so I may order it and try it, I never cooked with it so I will def five it a try

I picked up four bags last week. I also did a comparison between the discount offered by Walmart and the discount offered by Lowes. Not much of a difference, in my opinion. On a non-discounted basis, there's no difference at all ($8.98 for one bag [18#] v $12.99 for one bag [20#]). Still, compared to the regular prices I've seen, the price at Lowes and the price at Walmart are lower. Someone should check my math just in case I misplaced a decimal.
