Vent Tab Location?

On my 18.5" 08 WSM the vent tabs (stops) were located so the vents opened/ closed just like a hose-bib, turn it to the right it would stop at closed, to the left it would stop at fully opened.
Now on my 2011 22.5" WSM the vents operate the opposite way. L = closed, R = open..
Curious why Weber changed that and if the newer 18.5" are the same way?

Ok and Thanks cause that does make sense.
I always thought of my WSM vent tabs as a blind stop. As in you didn't have to lean over to check the location with a visual, tap it with you're foot to the right or left was easy for me.. This 22.5" is gonna take a while to know.:wsm:

I'm in the same boat, Tim, and I have no idea why they're opposite each other. Since I do most of my BBQ on the 22, I'm afraid what I might do if starting a early morning butt or chuck cook on the 18 without having my coffee. Putting the fire out right after putting the meat on wouldn't be the best way to start the day!
