Using the Silver Bullet Jacket

Ok, have the DigiQ II and the Silver Bullet Jacket. The WSM has the eyelets installed. Do you insert the probes through the eyelets and just slip the Silver Bullet Jacket over the WSM? Is the 6 ft cables lon enough? Do you put the pit temp probe through the top (the alligator clip is too large to go through the eyelet)? Where do you clip the pit temp probe? Do you cover the handle of the lid of the WSM to keep it clean? Is there a certain way to align the bottom vents for an easier cook? Is there a certain way to align the lid vent that will pull the smoke over the meat better?

Any DigiQ II and Silver Bullet Jacket tips would be greatly appreciated!

OK, I'll try and answer all of them but I'm drinking some carbonated beverages so I might miss something.
Yes, the jacket just slips down over the WSM.
6ft is long enough
The aligator clip comes off so you can slip it through the eyelet.
I clip the pit temp onto the end of the meat probe.
I have a wood handle and do not cover it, you can if you want.
If using the Guru, the bottom vents are closed up.
Lid vent, I keep 180 to the Guru.
First pic is the jacket on the WSM, second pic is the pit clip on the meat probe, HTH Link to pics.

Thanks! Gotta luv pictures.

Water pan, Brinkmann or WSM? Foiled, 3 pieces of foil crumpled, foiled over to catch drippings?

How many briquets to light for MM in cold weather? In warm weather?

Corona or a good single malt scotch whiskey?

I use the WSM water pan. One sheet of Reynolds Wrap Heavy Duty Wide, about an inch off the bottom of the pan, but dished so it will hold the drippings from the meat. I used to do the foil ball thing, but see no difference in that method than a single sheet with the air gap.
Lit briqs for MM I keep the same. One Butt or brisket, 8-10. 2 or more Butts or briskets 15-20 lit. Cold temps are not that much of a factor with the WSM, wind on the other hand is the enemy. For those windy days, spring, summer, fall, or winter. If the wind is blowing, I put the jacket on any time of the year.

Also with the jacket fuel consumption will be alot less. I do use the jacket in the winter, windy or not.

Just plain old Beer, I do Love Corona though.

I crumble up about 5 balls of foil then uncrumble and put them in the brinkman water pan (deeper)in layers. Then I put a foil sheet over the top to catch the drippings. I used my GURU Smoking Jacket for the first time a few weeks ago on a cold, windy & rainy night. It worked perfectly with the DigiQ-II. I'm probably going to use it with every cook now. I clan off the plastic handles with Greased Lightning.

Interesting thread!

Well, to me, anyway. I received the jacket as a Christmas present, and haven't had a chance to use it yet.

Anyone else have any thoughts, hints, tips, suggestions, comments, etc. about using the jacket?

Thanks,
