two small butts (2x 4lbs) to tie or not?

I've done a fair number of pork shoulders but they have always been in the 8 pound range. I purchased 2 four pound Burts because they were on sale. I suspect that these will cook faster ( and will likely fit on my mini) and I like bark so I was thinking of smoking them side by side as opposed to trying to tie them to make one frankenbutt.

Is there any reason not to do this? I can't think of one but if I can reduce cooking time AND get more bark due to increased surface area, why wouldn't I cut the big butts into 2?

Thanks!
