Two covers for an 18.5. Which is better?

I bought a used 18.5 WSM today. It has the installed lid hinge. It came with 3 covers.

The original Weber cover is a tight fit because of that hinge. So I guess that one is out.

The other two look nice. One is a Classic Accessories Hickory Series cover. It looks great and has breathable material. It looks water resistant but not water proof.

The other is a Classic Accessories Veranda Smoker Cover, rubber lined and therefore I guess waterproof.

Both have vents to help prevent condensation and both fasten at the bottom.

We have a rather long rainy season here every year. Should I go with the rubber lined all the time or only use it when those heavy, almost daily rains come and use the breathable the other 8 or 9 months?

Thanks.

Don't see where you live, but I live in western Washington and I use a 18.5" silver kettle heavy black cover that came with the silver on my 18.5 WSM. It's baggier than the original WSM cover and it slides on and off a lot easier

Mickey, I'd be interested in your spare weber cover you're not using. My newly acquired "C" needs a coat, lol. If you are not gonna use it and would let it go to a good home let me know. PM me here or send me an email to scottzee26@yahoo.com thanks a lot and have a Happy New Year

Drink a little drink, Smoke a little smoke :wsm:

I was going to start a new thread but I'll ask here.
If my WSM is outside and not being used should I always put it's cover on it? How well will this hold up while exposed to the elements?

Yes, use your cover, otherwise your WSM will fill up with rain water due to the design of the smoker to keep grease from running down the outside surface of the smoker, and get moldy inside. My cover has been holding up great so far. My smoker is the only outside cooking appliance that I put a cover over when not using it. My other Weber grills (gas and charcoal) have been outside for years with no cover and still look great.

I have a Classic Accessories Hickory cover that I bought in Jan of 2012. It's been out in the sun and weather since then and it's never leaked. It's a little sun faded but seems just as good as the day I got it.
