On the Jr it only has two burners, i know you have to light the front burner first then the back. My question is once that is accomplished can i shut down the front burner and just use the back one?
Ron, yes, you can definitely do that. The only reason for the lighting sequence is that the igniter is inline with the front burner. Once you have the burners lit, you are free to use them in whatever configuration you like.
Although I will mention if you're wanting to do a little smoking on it (or any E/W Genesis) putting the smoke chamber on the front and the food to the back with the front burner lit it's better as the natural ventilation is from front to back, So it will draw smoke over the food
