Turkey injection

I am looking for a good turkey injection that is not going to be too salty. I have had little luck in finding self-basting birds, and I will simply not take the time or use up the refrigerator space that it requires to properly brine a bird. Plus, I like the idea of injecting my own seasonings rather than hoping the self-basting bird is brined to my liking. Any ideas on a good injection? My plan is to smoke the bird with the WSM somewhere between 220 and 250 degrees (I have had little luck getting it to sustain anything higher than 250). Thanks to all.

Sincerely,

Charlie M.

Like Paula Dean says, "Start with a stick of Butter" add the seasonings you like and go from there. My wife likes Orange and Lemon so alot of the time I use juices mixed with melted butter and my "House Seasoning". She's happy so everyones happy.

Hi Charlie, I don't have a injection recipe but I would cook the turkey at around 350 dgrees to get a crispy skin. I think 220-250 is too low. If you are doing the minion method try putting a chimney of lit coal on top of the unlit ones. You should be able to get high heat from that. Again that's just my opinion.
