I am providing the meat for 25 people at a potluck on Thursday. I am trying to figure out how many tri tips I need to feed 25 people. I am thinking that 6 roasts would be sufficient because of the side dishes. Does that sound right?
Lance

Hello Lance, 6 3-4 lbs roast should be plenty, that would be over 1/2 pound per person.

I will be there at Fort Campbell Thrusday and Friday. Is what you are doing associated with this?

Randy

Randy,
It is a potluck for my wife's office. She works with Soldiers to better their finances and avoid financial scams. Where on Fort Campbell are you going to be on Thursday? Are you going to a welcome home ceremony?
Lance

Lance,

Another good cause you are working on sounds like.

Yes it's a welcome home ceremony that I am helping with, not really sure where at on base as I have never been there before but I am looking forward to helping and being there, I did see a picture of 2 big tents setup for us to park around. We will be cooking all night Thrusday and feeding everyone Friday. Stop by and find us if you get time.

Randy,
Is it just you or are you smoking with other people? What time are you going to be at Ft Campbell on Thursday?
Lance

There is at least 3 or 4 other people (couples) coming with their smokers along with me. I know of 3 people from Dickson coming to help and a few more from Alabama.

Not real sure of the time getting there, I think around lunch or so, some of them planned on getting there about 1 or so. I am following some other people that I hope has more of the details, they did say we had to go thru inspections and show our valid license and insurance cards etc., and this can take a while sometimes.

We have planned us a potluck type supper for us on Thrusday evening also.

Randy,
I found out where you are going to be staying. I will try to stop by mid-afternoon so we can meet. I know the Alabama people, Lynn and Robert. They are really good people and cooked for my unit when they came home.
Lance

That would be great, just look for the 2 big 22" WSM'S and a pull-behind smoker and yes it's Lynn that I have been talking with getting all this setup.

Unless I missed something, I think your a little over kill on the cookers.

With 6 tri tips you can do that with one 22 weber kettle, better with two, but can be done if needed with just one.
