Tri Tip in NJ

Does anyone know where to find tri tips in NJ? I've seen them at Trader Joes, but they seemed small, unless that's the normal size. They didnt seem to weigh in at more than 2 lbs. or so. Any ideas?

Ditto Steven - you can find them at Wegman's too. They are about the same size as at TJ's about 2-2.5 lbs. The only place I've gotten them where they were a little larger were at Treuth's in MD. I've gotten a number their that were 3.5 lb, a couple at 4 on occasion. Local butchers were reluctant to order them in for me unless I wanted to buy a case.

If you buy from Trader Joes, stay away from the ones in marinade. They are horrid, but the plain tris are good

Yeah, local PA has them at Wegmens. Overpriced IMHO. Treuths in MD is best for me at this point. Nice full cut and not over trimmed. Usually has a bit of cap on it which is nice. Have a few left in the freezer

Run about $4-5 a lb last time I bought.

The pre marinated are pretty bad IMHO and that has been my experience from several years running. But maybe that's because I just don't know how to use them. Plain has always worked good for me though.
