to smoke a butt or to smoke another butt.

Hello,

So i went to the store today with out doing some research "bad me bad me"

I went to the local club store and i figured i look at the pork butts to smoke this weekend, well looking at the huge size it was hard to spend 30 bucks or 1 large or maybe it was 2 butts 17 lbs in weight for 2 ppl.

so i decided to check out the local store and i i found a pork shoulder roast around 9 lbs on sale bone in.. after coming to the site just to make sure i have everything i needed for the butt smoke i noticed that the pork i got was about 5% enhanced with solution and thats generally a no no,

so i guess the question do i head to the local club store and get the 17 lb package or cook the 9 lb "prob 6 - 7 after cutting the fat cap and bone" enhanced shoulder.

this will be my first butt and i don't wanna ruin it sub par meat.

what do you all think ?

Smoke it up! It's not going to be terrible or anything. You will probably think its the best meat you've ever eaten. People who have done many butts will perfer the unenhanced meat but beings its your first I wouldent worry about it. So I say, dont worry about it I'd bet money you'll absolutly love it.

Also, leave the fat cap and bone alone. Most of the fat will render and what dosent you can remove when you pull, the bone will come out easily when the meat is done....Now get smokin!
