Two pork butts targeted for Sunday. Thinking 2-2-2 Apple, Cherry, Hickory.

What do you like for smoking wood combos?????

A base of hickory, with a smaller addition of apple or cherry. But I'd go with cherry.

I'd go 3 hickory 3 apple, love the apple

Timmy, I really like the combo of hickory and apple with pork. If it was me, I would go 4 apple and 2 hickory.

I did 3-3-1 APple Cherry Hickory, and the hickory was kinda lost. I loved the taste, very good, but I like a stronger hickory.

So I am going to try 2-2-1 next time.

I'm with Eric G on this one.
To much hickory can make it bitter.
More apple than hickory.

I like mixing Apple wood with Hickory wood chunks. Makes for a nice balance of smoke taste, not too strong or powerful, but it seems to be the right amount. I also like Pecan wood too.
