Well yes, I had a ECB and did the mods and the first one stock didn't turn out that great and then I did all that work to the smoker and the second was good but a real hassel so I decided I needed a WSM! Got it in and did a burn on it with a chimney of Kingsford and 1 gal of water. I am at 6500ft and did a 6 hour burn with water left. This is absolutely awesome! Doing chicken Friday with apple wood chunks. Will only need the one chimney and that was letting it totally light off before I put it in. This is heads and shoulders above the ECB!

Glad you're enjoying her. If you're impressed with how long she runs with water in her try her without the water sometime. Don't think you'll be missing the ECB anytime soon

Bob, greetings and WELCOME to the club. We all know how much you will enjoy your WSM. When you get a chance throw us a pic of your cooks.

Hey Bob,
Before you chuck the ECB out, salvage any mods you can and especially the "Charcoal" bowl, sub it for you water pan.

The charcoal bowl can be combined with the WSM water pan to create a "Piedmont Pan" for cooking without water.

Also, depending on the ECB, your cooking grates can be used. I had the Gourmet, a little bigger than the very basic ECB, and the cooking grates were just the right size to lay over the WSM charcoal grate (at right angles) to keep small pieces of lump charcoal from falling through. You could also add a third grate to increase the capacity when cooking ribs, butterflied chicken, or any other "thin" foods that don't need a lot of headroom.

Actually, now that I think about it, I got a lot more use out of the Brinkmann after I stopped cooking on it.

Thanks for the tips about keeping the Brinkmann. Sold it for $20. Already have a grate if I want to use lump and the water bowl is like 2 gal so right now I am doing it with water. Once I get it down I might try without but we will see what happens! <grin>
