This Rock's - I'm Stoked

For my 50th b'day, the wife got me a Rock's BBQ Stoker earlier this week. The plan is to try it out on a 7.5# butt this weekend (it's just the two of us, no need for bigger). Since this is my first time using the Stoker, are there any tricks of which I should be aware? Any gotchas, etc?

I'm planning to do a low/slow 240 degree cook, with water in the pan. Last time I ran into some weather glitches but despite some wild temperature fluctuations and no sleep whatsoever, I did manage to make some righteously good barbecue. I'm hoping the Stoker will take a lot of the workload off my hands. I'll be going with Comp-K this time, too.

My biggest concern is how weather-resistant the blower motor is. It looks quite vulnerable, to be honest and if there's any rain whatsoever I'm concerned it may fail (or get damaged). Any Stoker users here who could assist?

The stoker is awesome. The new one is pretty cool with the built in wireless.
Happy b-day. Your wife did awesome.

Start with very little lit and why water in the pan? No need for a heat-sink with a Stoker on watch (in my opinion).

Tent the blower with foil. Just before the last few turns of the wing nut, shove the edge of some foil in, tighten the wing nut & tent the blower kinda loosely.

I found with a different stoker, that you need a fairly air tight system or it will not be able to lower temps, only increase them.

I put some foil tape around my door and got better performance, however the tape glue kept releasing due to the heat.

I had the stoker set at 230* and when ever I saw temps >240* I knew to go out and press the tape back down.

I have never had a problem with my Stoker holding my temps. Don't have to do anything special.
I just completed a 20 Pork Butt cook @ 240° from a single load of Kingsford. Perfectly smooth temp control.
