Third Brisket Cook - FIRST Success (w/Pics)

It's almost embarrassing to relate this story but as my wife was eating this brisket EVERY time she took a bite she was going "mmmmmmmmmmmmm...."

She's NEVER done that when she eats. I was thinking "Wow she really likes it."

And then about halfway through she softly mutters "...better than sex."

I'm not sure whether she was serious or not but I was thinking "Oh man! What have I gotten myself into now!"

Mike, I know you took notes but practice makes perfect. I'd be cooking a brisket every weekend for the next 3-4 weeks to build confidence and nail it down while everything is still fresh in the brain. Once you do them enough it's second nature and everything just goes so smooth. JMO

i disagree, if she says better the sx then don't make anymore, go back to butt,.... uh.. pork butt... sorry, bad joke.

Bryan is so right here; My briskets sucked, I couldn't do them to save my life, kept turning out dry after dry after dry brisket . . . oh, and there was a tough one or two thrown in there too . . . finally after advice from Bryan, Kevin, David L. and many other's I figured her out, it was an amazing breakthrough, then I did one the next weekend, and the next weekend until I could reproduce her in my sleep. It's like my golf game, it's only as good as my ability to put back to back to back shots together.

Your brisket looks awesome, keep up the good work!

That's a sweet looking brisket. Great job. One day I will work up the courage to do a high temp cook. Maybe.
