I currently have two Polders. I use one for internal and the other for temps at the grill.

I don't have a thermometer with a low alarm.

I'm aware of the NUTEMP 701.

Any positive experiences out there with a thermometer with a low temp alarm, wireless or not

I've had great results with the Weber replacement therm. It seems to be very accurate. For the boiling test it came very close to the target mark. You can stick it through a cork and stick the cork through one of the lid vent holes. It won't go anywhere. Next best thing to a permanent mount. Nine bucks at Home Depot.

Does any one have any experience with the Polder 601 dual probe thermometer good or bad??

This looks like a great replacement for my single probe thermometer. I would like to know the adjustability of the hi/low temp probe. I envision using this with the probe through the potato technique to measure the temprature at the cooking surface. Does anyone have some better ideas or input??

Thanks

Hey Tom,
The dual probe is 2 probes in one. There is the one probe sensor in the pointed probe end with another probe sensor in the handle portion of the probe. So you insert it into the meat and the handle hangs outside the meat. So you measure temperature inside the meat and slightly outside of the meat by an inch or two in the handle.

The dual probe is not coompatible with the standard Polder unit...you have to use the transmitter (display unit) that comes with the dual polder probe.

Link to a store on web for Dual Polder...

Hi Tom,

Check out this link to learn about my experiences with the dual probe Polder: Polder Question It seems to be working now but I'll have to wait and see how it behaves in my next cook. If I had it to do over again, though, I'd probably get the single probe version.

Prestoin I think we are talking about two diffferent thermometers the comments i've seen about the dual sensor single probe thermometer model 894-90 I think is different than the 601 the picture on www.polderinc.com appears to be a single probe thermometer but it speaks of a hi/low preset tht intrigues me. The general consensious I've heard on the 894-90 is its not ready for prime time yet? but I'm always looking for other opinions. thanks for the ideas and keep em coming!!

I see a lot of comments that people's electronic thermometer is dead. I have been using a 10" turkey frier mechanical thermometer that can be adjusted to boiling. I stick it in on the top and get the end near the 1st set of grates. The price is right and the batteries will never die.
