I got and used a Polder thermometer/timer. It works great. It has a magnet on the back and I was wondering if anyone uses it stuck to the lid. I'm a bit leery of doing this, thinking that the lid of the Bullet may be too hot for the thermometer.

Any one use it this way? any problems?

I've only used my WSM/polder three times, so I'm no expert, but that's what I do.

The only problems I've encountered is that the thermometer body gets a little smokey, and the magnets get pretty hot if you remove it from the cover.

Don't stick it to the lid, keep it in your pocket and only plug it in once and a while to determine temps.

Best wishes,
Steve

Mine melted!! Need tape to hold the battery in!! Of course it is 5 years old now.....so it's been berry berry good to me!

The problem happened on an overnight cook when the temp got away from me. The sneekey little........

Hi,

I usually have my charcoal chimney sitting nearby, so I stick the base unit on the metal handle. It works well, protects the unit from the heat of the cooker, and keeps me from stepping on it.

Regards,
Chris
