So i've been using it this morning and there's a few things to note. 1) the magnet holder isn't very strong in terms of magnetic pull. but 2 the fireboard is very hefty which means finding a true magnet mount in the same way you'd use a digiq as an example is going to be difficult. Currently I have my kettle out next to the smoker and i'm using the mount on the grill grate of the grill and in that sense it's working great and at least if it gets windy won't slide around at all. But if you want a way to have the fireboard 2 with a true stand alone mounting option, then custom fabricating something to stand next to the smoker might be your best bet.

I bought the Weber tool hook for $6. It’s meant for the kettles, but fits “ok” on my 18.5 “ WSM. My Thermometer has a wire stand on the back that can spin around to be hung.
