The Pizza Quest continues... Now with Kettle Pizza (long)

Man! You sure are on your way! I'm a bit jealous but I have other projects in front of the pizza oven. Really well done!!

Joe, check this out. I just found this on the KP Facebook and is how I was going to set up my first cook minus the insulation. Looks like I need to find some insulation. Good vid here.

Nate, thanks +1000 for posting. That's the best result I've seen out of a KP. Amazing leoparding on the bottom and char on the bones. My envy is such that I had to register over there to inquire further. It looks from the video that maybe he has fire board on top as was suggested earlier in this thread by Ron Webb.

Let me know what you find out about his setup. See if you can get pics.

I've ordered a sheet of Skamotec (Danish product I believe) calcium silicate insulation board and will let you know how it works out.

That is some great looking pizza and all that info is helping everyone.
What a great team we have here, great ideas from everyone.

He PM'd me some stuff but asked me not to share the photos.

Basically, he wraps the outside with the insulating material. The "roof" for lack of a better term he made himself by casting a perlite blend using a steel mesh for strength. He used the KP itself as the mold. Pretty slick setup.

Sorry, I haven't read every line of the entire thread so this may have been proposed before.

How about a terra cotta pot bottom that is inverted? I was planning to make a mini-za and put this in the lid somehow.

Gonna do a couple today, gotta decide if I'm gonna do my kettle pizza on my 22" kettle or on 18" WSM. I like the idea of using the WSM because I wouldn't have to rake the hot coals to the sides like on the kettle. I'm also torn if I should sauté the veggies before putting them the uncooked pizza

You should be fine without precooking the veggies as long as you have enough heat on top of you pie. I'm not sure how your set up is on the WSM but you can check this out for the JJ set up. http://www.weberjumbojoe.com/kettle-pizza-for-the-weber-jumbo-joe/
