Does this Thermometer have an alarm that goes off in case the temp. dives or spikes ? If not, what kind do you all recommend that has an alarm. Thanks

Yes. There are two probes; one for the meat and one for the pit. The meat probe has 1 alarm setting (internal meat temp). The pit probe has two alarm setting; a high and low so that you can set a range. It will tell you if the pit gets too cold or too hot AND when your meat is done. Pretty cool little device!

Hey Terry, I just received the ET-73. Haven't used it yet but I did read through the instructions and there are temp ranges you can set - if the smoker temp goes above or below that temp range, an alarm will sound. As Don said above, the meat therm will alarm when it hits the desired temp.

I used my new ET-73 this past monday. It has an alarm if your meat goes above your set temp, or if the smoker goes below your minimum temp or above your maximum temp. The remote console displays the temps while you're inside.

I initially could not get the remote console to display the cooker temp or the meat temp, although the plug in unit was displaying the temps. The remote console only flashed three dashes. With a few google searches, I discovered that the remote console does not work unless you turn on the remote console before turning on the plugged in unit. It then worked great for this first cook.

Thanks folks, I'm going to go ahead and order it then, it sounds like everyone enjoys it,and it has the features I'm looking for. I'll jump on Amazon through here so Chris can get some credit. Thanks Again ! Maybe I'll leave ya all alone for awhile now.
