Thanks to the Board!

I just wanted to thank all of those who have contributed to this board - all the info I needed to fully restore this grill was from you all.

I got sick of replacing the grates on my CharBroil and have always wanted a Weber. Anyone can plunk down $1000 at Home Depot, but this was super fun. Just waiting on my RC flavorizer bars and I’ll be cooking.

Best part is I rehabbed and donated my old grill to a single mom that’s really struggling. She was elated.

Anyway, thought I’d share. I plan on using this for the next 20 years!

Very nice job! And glad you decided to just "say no" to Char-Broil!

Very nice job with the rehab and excellent choice in the grill you chose to restore. Should be a good grilling machine for years to come

I like that too!
I am in total agreement, the free exchange of information here is probably better than any other forum.
Had I not had the tutelage from guys like Jon, Larry, and Bruce who has endured myriad emails asking the dumbest, most basic questions (Should I use a wrench or just hog it out with pliers and have a fit?) . And everyone here has been a great help and inspiration for me to understand more of what to do with my equipment and branch out into more directions with food.
Thank you Chris for making this site so accessible!

Nice work. Where did you get the stainless front panel?
It was with the grill.

Interesting tidbit - I am at least the third owner and the frame had a Genesis Gold model number but my handle says silver on it? I’m not mad because the frame has no rust but the model is 2260000 (gold) and by all appearances it looks like a silver to me.
I have zero clue what I actually have. But the burners and main ignition are what’s on shelf at Depot. And a Silver C cover fits great (got the King Kong cover).

Agree

I just wanted those who spend time facilitating the conversation and those who contribute to it to know the effect they have. I paid too much but saved something from a landfill and will enjoy it for a long time. He had it up for a month. But my total investment would have put me into another “char broil level” grill. I feel like I got more than that.

In fact, I’ll never walk past another “free” classic gasser. So simple and effective. I’d be much faster rehabbing another.

Looks great happy grilling 20 years and more!

Are you still using the OEM grates or got those from Dave as well?
I have Weber SS “folded” grates but I’m considering GrillGrates. But the ones I have are in good shape.

Coming from an “infrared” Char-Broil that did cook good food I see the allure of the GrillGrates. I also use my gasser to sear Sous Vide often.
