Terroir Coffee

that local I talked about seems to know all of what your telling me about. I ask for a couple pounds and and he points at one and says kinda angry-like "hey now... uh, lets start with one fresh one, and if you really like it you'll be back" and then he smiles and actually only wants to sell me one, just crazy. but you all make it sound like i'de certainly enjoy a few online specialty orders and maybe i'll get some extra change together and try this. I've wrote down sean's region suggestions and will keep in mind what K mentioned. You made me wander what I may be missing if you know what i mean, ...with flavor description. Thats all I need is another habbit of even more coffee drinking, along with my imported beer bottle collection.

Yeah, I'm right there with you on the beverage addiction. I love quality beer and wine as much as I do food. And I'm willing to dispense a higher ratio of funds towards those things than say for food items.

Let us know what you think of your coffee. Remember it is important to brew it properly too, or your just wasting a good portion of your money. If you have a press pot, and good clean tasting water that's all you need ( besides a vessel to boil the water).

I'd take water just a few seconds off the boil, to mix in to the FRESHLY ground beans, coarse ground. Most recommend 2 T to 6 oz, if I recall right, but it's mostly a matter of taste. Don't over extract by leaving the coffee to brew more than 4 minutes.

On my Technivorm, I used 70 oz of beans for 300 fluid oz of water. I'm glad I have a digital scale that pulls double duty in standard and metric. I bought the scale for my beer homebrewing.

no chris im sorry for the confusion. Hes just one private owner and i'm over here on the western slope. Hes in Delta, CO right on main street.
edit: make that "doghouse expresso" sorry bout that.

So I broke into the next batch of Terroir that I have, and tried the Columbian. This is a bit closer to what I'm personally looking for. The flavors are much better balanced and subtle. The finish is long, and tastes a bit like caramel and chocolate. I'm 2/3 the way thru the pot, and the caffeine kick is nice and gentle.

It's going to be fun discovering all sorts of new beans.

I had a great cup of coffee this past Tuesday at Central Market here in Lancaster City. It was the Papua New Guinea. Man that was a great cup of coffee. I'm curently drinking a Kenya AA as I type I picked up a 1/2lb. of the Kenya beans along with a 1/2lb. of Ethiopian beans. Great stuff all of them but that Papuan might be my favorite, or the Kenya AA, still undecided.
