Smoked a butt for the 1st time on my 22.5 and noticed moisture inside the gauge and a little smoke escaping from around gauge, Is this normal?

Yes, the moisture will disappear and it's nothing to worry about. It does not affect the accuracy or function of the therm.
Nevermind the little smoke escaping, after three more cooks, you'll see that that too will disappear.
Smoke gunk will build up and "plug" those little nooks and GRANNIES
