used minion method but temp wont go above 220/225 still have all vents fully open

what are you cooking? slow and low is usually good. You could add a 1/2 chiminy of hot coals to increase the heat.

Take the side door off and fan some air into the WSM to jump start the charcoal. Put the door back on after a few minutes, that should cure it! If not, you can add more lit coals.

Take the door off for about 10 min. You also turn the door upside down (knob on the bottom) and use a piece of wood or such to prop open the door (knob) about a 1/4-1/2" to get more air in.

Im cooking babybacks 4 racks Im going to try to take side door of for 10mins looks like coals are fully lit? not sure what happened I added 20 lit to top of full chamber temp outside is around 100 and hardly any wind

seems to be working temp up to 250 going to put bottom vents at 25% and see what happens

One other theory that I have is that your Briquettes could have absorbed some moisture-that's a problem where I live with our humidity. I store mine indoors, and our grocery stores this time of year will have stacks of Kingsford out front. I won't buy a bag of charcoal that has been sitting outside, I like to think that I've fought my last battle with moisture-laden charcoal.
So, tell us how the baby backs came out!

For future reference...

If you have the Weber chimney, put it on the ground right next to the WSM access door. This gives you a perfect place to lean the door, giving you as much or as little of a gap as you need. I needed to sear a steak after a cook, and my 250 degree fire jumped to 400 in 20 minutes by propping the door this way (using lump charcoal).

Just curious. How long after you added the lit coals did you get concerned that the cooker wouldn't go above 225? Did it go to ~225 then stay there for 15 minutes or so?
