sweet and spicy smoked nuts, a happy mistake

I used the recipe on the cooking page to make the sweet and spicy smoked nuts. The first try was good but a little too spicy.

During the second try I was busy with the kids and ended up not stirring the nuts as per the recipe...and the results was much, much better. I took the nuts off the fire without stirring them, they cooled and I had something resembling brittle. I broke up the brittle and they were great.
 
I suspect the nuts were less spicy because I monitored my daughter's measuring a little better this time.

The nuts were delicious because the sugar/honey crystallized...the first try tasted like nuts with some crystallized sugar. This try tasted like crystallized sugar with nuts.
