I think they are pretty similar, however the 1000 with its deep firebox and two rows of flavorizer bars provide less chance of a flare up, a more even temperature distribution and probably the biggest advantage is the deep firebox and the ability to take the top row of flavorizer bars out so there is ample room for things like a rotisserie with a 12lb turkey on it along with other meats. But, for the average Joe, the Silver B is a great choice.
