I put on a Tri Tip and smoked at 225 for awhile, maybe 30 min.. meat went on at 60 degrees.. It was thoroughly coated with rub... It began to climb in temp pretty rapidly, withen 40 min it was at 90 degrees?? Thermo never went over 250... I pulled it at 140 and it just didn't have a dark appearance to it. It cooked for 1:05 min... It was a nice medium rare.. Tasted fantastic. Just didn't Bark up like I wanted it too... It was a smaller piece of meat. Just over 2-1/2 lbs.. What could I have done to get the color and bark better..

Pull at 115* then give it some time directly over the coals and watch it. Maybe 3 minutes per side to get some char

That reverse cook thatDave speaks of is a great way to do TT. My problem gas been going to long smoking and then not having enough heat it the coals to do the reversal. I'm tempted to pull it off the smoker and put it on my preheated baby Q

Great advice, Thanks...
Just alittle bummed it didn't Bark up like the first one I did..... Not really a big deal cause it really was super tender and had killer flavor...
