Stolen WSM

Not sure where to post this but my wsm just arrived and I was wondering if any of you had ever had one stolen.

Edit: I have not had one stolen. Infact I just stole one... for $199 plus free shipping. It's safe out in the garage. I have a silver smoker I bought a year ago and since it ways 200 lbs I was never worried about it being stolen. I live in a very crime free neighborhood but you always have to keep the honest people, honest.

Did you? If so, I wish you were closer - I just got a brand new one at a yard sale, assembled and everything for $80. I would give you my old one...it's old, but she's seasoned and cooking as good as ever - but needed a few replacement grates - at $80 I just bought the new one and figure to use my old one for additional capacity or spare parts - whichever need came first.

I've never had one stolen but have heard of it happening.

Thank goodness I have not experienced that, but now that you haved planted the seed in my little brain, I guess it's not a bad idea to start locking my gate, or just wheeling it into the garage. I hope no one has to go through that at all. In this day and age I guess we can't be too careful.

i keep mine in the garage.ill usually let it sit out overnight in the backyard after a cook though.then i just pick the whole thing up by the stands and carry it in.

That's a great score. I was checking craigslist up to three times a day, everyday for 4 months waiting for someone to post one for sale. I finally said screw it when I found it cheap online.

Oh yes. It happened to me. See here.

We also had a discussion regarding securing your WSM. I rigged up a cable to secure mine, although I don't feel the need in our current location.

i went out and purchased a masterlock rope cable with the covered eyebolts already attached. found a great deal at the local hardware store. i just ran the cable through the legs of my wsm, otg, and around a pillar. i have enough give to move them around if needed.

I worry about that sometimes too. I live in a low crime area, but these days that dont mean anything. Those scum bags known as thieves do not discrimenate from any type of neighberhood. The kettles stay outside, and would be very easy to pick up and throw in a truck. My other smoker weights 400 lbs or so, and is kept in the garage. If that was stolen id be crushed. Plus its a lot more than the kettles. I hate thieves...scum of the earth.
