Steven Raichlen's Vieluxe

It's definitely interesting! Not at this time though. I have a lot of projects lined up and also trying to pick up a couple more JRs plus finishing my current Jr project hopefully over the next week or two.
I wouldn’t discount it too hastily. This example looks to be in excellent condition at a reasonable price. I bought mine (in lesser condition) with the idea of flipping it but just couldn’t let it go for less than my ask. Now, it’s my weekend workhorse all summer long at camp and I couldn’t be happier. The only regret you’ll ever have with a Vieluxe is passing on the opportunity to grab one when you had the chance. I think the stainless would look good on you, too….:summits650::george::)

I bet it's fantastic! Not as close as I thought it was though. I have several Genesis 1000s in line for restorations and looking to pick up some more JRs. These are my favorites and where I want to concentrate my time and energy for now. Occasionally flip newer Webers for quick cash but loosing interest in messing with the newer ones. I have some other x000 models but no plans to sell any of the older Webers I have. How many does a person need though.

But Josh I think you're kinda missing the point. Those things are such unicorns and such a superior piece of cooking equipment to nearly anything that has ever been produced short of roasting the fatted calf. And it would be such a beautiful cooker to work with. I'd give my Wolf up for one in good shape without thinking twice. And never look back. It's such a beautiful piece of history. Not a "paycheck". Maybe not a museum piece (though it could be) but in good shape and actually taken care of it would be an indestructible brute of a cooker.

Well said. Can you imagine a Vieluxe under Josh’s careful hand? That thing would shine like a new Airstream.

Yep Tom. We have some terrific craftsmen on this site. Not the least of which are Josh, Jon Tofte, Bruce, TonyUK just to mention a few. That thing in the hands of any of these fine craftsmen it would truly be a thing of beauty!

Tom
Is your thermometer messed up too?

Hard to believe the crummy (yet beefy) thermometers they put in these things… haven’t seen one that isn’t messed up yet
