Donuts from Timmy H?

;)

I’d give about most anything to have a pastry shop up here on the Peninsula.
Our donuts and pastries are at least a day if not more old due to shipping.
The people here don’t even know what fresh means when it comes to this.
We don’t even have a Timmy… sniff sniff.

Step up your game or you’ll be on the couch tonight!

We have a couple of decent bakeries around here, the bread bakery I frequent I’d about half an hour away. The Dutch pastry place is about ninety seconds away. Both of them, closed on Mondays, I’ve learned to work around that.
Five minutes to the other good bakery downtown superior puff pastry offerings and heavenly croissants! Doughnuts? Sweetwater is just three minutes and they are open 24/7!
There isn’t anything like Stella’s within 150 miles!

Everything looks delicious. It’s hard to beat a nice sfogliatelle but I will confess to having a preference for the Americanized version known as the Lobster Tail. Thankfully, my local bakery has no qualms about foregoing a little tradition by offering both. Yummy!

We did drive 90 miles one way, but it’s always worth the trip.

Wifey had a napoleon, I had a chocolate raspberry cake, daughter had an eclair as did her friend. I also enjoyed two cups of lavazza coffee. What an excellent cup of mud.

This trip got us excited for our planned trip to Rome. Pizza, pastries, cookies, Italian coffee. I might just not come back to CA and stay in Italy for a while.

Pretty sure my blood sugar just spiked looking at those cases.

Regrettably, the local bakery that my g/f & I have been patronizing for nearly 15 years is no more. Previous owners sold out just before COVID hit (they wanted to retire, and his knees were completely shot,) and the new owner really struggled in a hostile business climate. The new owner had to face a decision to either sell out, or shutter it. The business that's owned for several months now is an established bakery about 30 miles west, but they're using it only as a retail counter. None of the old recipes or bakery are in use, and quite honestly..... we liked the pastries, especially the old fashioned donuts, under the old management.

Keep your local businesses going. @Brett-EDH , enjoy your trip to Italy.

I cannot agree with doing ones best to support “The little guy”! We have lost several excellent small businesses since Covid some survived only to succumb to staffing shortages and retirement. The biggest loss in my opinion has been “Youze guys” sausage but, Chris decided it was time to retire, he barely weathered Covid but, could not survive some of his commercial accounts closing. Very sad for small businesses that were laser focused on quality. When so many mediocre businesses manage to sell mid range goods (at best) and seem to convince the masses that it’s “great”.
I’m sorry, didn’t mean to go so far down that rabbit hole so deeply!
