Ordered these a few years ago to a relatives in the US and finally got stateside to get them. I know a few people on here have them and had a couple of questions about maintaining them. Since they are not 304 SS do they rust and if so, what do you do to prevent it? Can they be seasoned like the non stainless steel plate on my Blackstone griddle? And, are there any other tips on using or looking after them.

Thanks, Richard.

They do get some very light surface "corrosion" but I have to stress VERY light. Nowhere near carbon based steel or cast iron

Yah, I honestly have never noticed any corrosion on my Stanbroil SS Q grates. I season them by cooking food on them. Usually, the fattier the food, the quicker and easier they get seasoned. LOL
I even cook bacon on mine. No grease splatter in the house to deal with and it cooks the bacon super fast and very well. Gotta change out the grease collector pan more often though.

LMichaels, I look forward to your pictures.
Thanks.
So the photos you see there from Bruce are about identical to what I would show you. And if you got the 304SS ones from Germany hell you would not even get the orange discoloration or corrosion of any kind.

Larry, if you are talking about the discoloration around the outer part of my grates, I think that is just burned on grease/oil and where no food has yet burned onto them.

I just went out an took a photo. This is how they look today without being cleaned and since about 2 weeks or so since I last cooked on them. However, they are not 304SS as they do have some magnetism.

I don't use mine nearly as often as you. Actually quite rarely. Honestly I have not fired the Q up in 6 weeks or so. I've been using Big Z, the Member's Mark and for gas the Wolf (ahhh oooooh Wherewolves of London) :D
