Spirit S/E-210 restoration and hybridization

I started the process of restoring our faithful E-210 which we purchased from Home Depot 6 years ago. Only minor rust on the frame where the tank cutout is. I already have the paint except the high heat stuff which I'll get later. I have new burners and flame tamers as well as spares of just about everything. When I finish cleaning and painting it I will replace the black enameled hood with the stainless hood from the S-210 at our beach house. I'll also replace the grill base cover that was exclusive to the Home Depot model with the stainless door from the scrapped S-210. I might need to drill 1-2 holes for the hinge pins for that. I've snapped some before pics and I'll snap some after ones. This is a relatively easy restoration so I expect to be done today or tomorrow.

Finished. Not perfect but pretty darn good. Will extend the life of this guy another 5 years at least without any major attention. Put in new burners but kept the same flavorizers. Plus I have spares of everything for this grill. I addressed all existing and potential rust points including the very bottom and the wheel fixtures. Still need to attach the S-210 door. Working on that.

Good job. Another grill saved from the land fill and a great way to save a few bucks while getting a great grill.
Exactly. Thanks. These model Spirits are underestimated. They are great grills. The Home Depot specific model with Weber's Gourmet cooking system...a removable round CI insert, is outstanding. It came with a CI griddle that fits inside once the removable round grate is taken out. It's a great feature. Also, for a 2 burner grill, it has plenty of cooking surface.
I feel "grill gifted" now...the restored Broilmaster P3 at our beach house and now this Weber Spirit...both squared away for years to come 😀

Finished with the S-210 door installed in place of the Home Depot cover and a new SS warming rack from Amazon. The OEM Weber warming rack is garbage. It's the first thing to rust...the cabinet is a close second.

Jay, that grill looks great!
The Spirit S-210 is one of the best gas grills I have ever owned (maybe the best). Sold it to the neighbor for a song and a dance and have regretted it ever since. He just loves it.
