We have had a long good relationship with Penzies.

I just put in a order for AmericanSpice.com. They seem to have stuff that the others do not (freeze dried Worcestershire, Honey and Mesquite & Hickory Smoke along with a good selection of hot sauces like "Pain is Good").

My brother noted www.myspicer.com seems to have good prices.

Anyone have comments on any of the above or other places with recommended spiecs?

www.glorybee.com is one of the biggest honey suppliers in the US. They have a huge variety of different types of honey.

They also have a huge selection of spices and natural sweeteners (maple sugar, cane sugar, fructose, honey granules, date sugar, ect).

They are based out of Eugene, Oregon, but also have an office in Seattle, WA.

Oregon Spice in Portland will give you wholesale prices if set up an account with them and spend $50 or more at a time.

Hi Dave!

I will publicly vouch for American Spice. They are located here...just a few miles from my home.... and I have a very good relationship with Dan Turkette, the President and Owner. He is a professional Chef...I forget which culinary school.....and knows not only his spices, but also how to run a biz.

He is also very accomplished at setting up successful commercial web sites. The vast majority of his biz is on the 'net.

As far as turn over of spices(impacting freshness), I don't know what his sales numbers are, but I have seen the amount of packages he ships in a day and it is quite a few. Therefore, I assume his turnover is quick enough to keep his spices fresh.

I am fortunate to be able to shop at his retail location and save some shipping money. Dan's goal is to add several more isles of merchandise, mainly BBQ sauces. He already has about all I have ever needed and is a great help.

Good luck in your search!

I, too, recommend American Spice. I've ordered from them quite a bit. They're reasonable, often offer discounts that, at least, ease the cost of shipping.
Additionally, the spices are fresh and well-packaged. The company sells in various sizes from little stovetop containers to bulk.
Good luck!

I've had very good experiences with Spicesetc.com. A huge selection of products and quantities, fair prices and great service. And the quality is excellent.

For those in the Seattle area SA Muligan Spice is great to do business with, we have them custom mixing our rubs for the same kind of money I can do it for.

Just received the order from American Spice. Had to try some of the spices. I was disappointed that the bags were not resealable. I am use to penzies where if you purchase bulk the bag is resealable. Anyway, what I don't put in a small bottle I plan on throwing in the freezer anyway. It took one day for ground delivery and three days to fill the order.

I am dumb enough to try some of the hot sauces straight. At least I waited until after the spices. Pain is good #37. The last thing I remember tasting is a bit of garlic. My mouth is numb.

Spices Etc. packages their spices in really nice plastic containers with wide mouths and sprinkle/scoop split caps.
