2 years ago I paid $50 for precut tree, last year I purchased a fake tree on clearance at lowes for $130...one that I thought looked real enough but I still prefer real trees ....prices of both are outrageous now

Just buy a spray can of pine scent.

I went over to the fake tree dark side years ago. 11 foot, narrow, prelit led which we keep up for six weeks.

Then we cut a small second one from our forest-ey back yard for free to get the smell.

I bought a Christmas tree permit from the local forest service office. That cost $20. Then about $25 in gas to drive to the mountains and back. My boys love hiking through the snow looking for that "perfect" tree.

And that is the RIGHT way to get a Christmas tree. We only did it once, but was great family fun.
